Our Story

The Sampalis Foundation was started by Dr. John Sampalis, a medical researcher, professor, and entrepreneur who has devoted his career to advancing science for the benefit of patients.

Though Dr Sampalis has always known the power of science to improve the lives of patients, he developed a renewed understanding of the importance of research in watching his sister, a pioneering physician, face an ovarian cancer diagnosis with courage and grace. Her illness, and her loss, made one thing clear to him: the science to detect and treat women's cancers exists, but progress will require people willing to fund it, believe in it, and push it forward. In memory of his sister, Dr. Sampalis founded The Sampalis Foundation.

Since then, the foundation has brought together researchers, donors, and communities united by a single conviction: that no woman should face these diseases without the best that science can offer.
